Tell me a little bit about your journey to the Academy? What were you looking for in an undergraduate program?
I came from a fine arts background but always maintained an interest in wider applications for artistic principles beyond a canvas. When applying to college, I chose art programs at some schools, business at others, and engineering for the rest. I knew I was interested in all these fields, but I wasn’t sure which I wanted to pursue the most. I was prepared to do a double major or dual degree no matter where I went, until I discovered IYA. It was the perfect mix of everything I wanted to study and had a small school within a big school feel, which was extremely important to me.
Describe a passion project you’re currently working?
Designing the interface of an app that improves the event-going and creating experience.
What inspired the project?
As a student, I noticed several flaws in how we discover and attend events on campus and wanted to create a better platform. I also wanted to understand the process of UIUX design from user research to high-fidelity wireframing and doing so in practice was the most effective way.
