USC’s Iovine and Young Academy and Marshall School of Business offer a joint, 4-year Bachelor of Science degree that prepares students to become leaders at the intersection of technology, business, creativity, and entrepreneurship. Graduates of this joint degree will gain specialized expertise to make them competitive leaders and professionals in both innovative business practices and technological advancements, preparing them to drive change across industries. 

This degree utilizes a signature integrated core spanning technology, design, and business while leveraging the Academy’s unique Challenge Based Reflective Learning methodology. Upon graduating, students will be equipped with cross-cutting fluency and modern frameworks across technology, business, and creativity for disruptive innovation. 

This program emphasizes the business management components of innovation in collaboration with the Marshall School of Business. For students who want to emphasize design strategy or technology development components of innovation, the Iovine and Young Academy’s Bachelor of Science in Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation is the recommended path.

Through the Academy’s core, students will develop a powerful mindset to analyze challenges, think across knowledge domains and synthesize diverse ideas to create new technologies, ventures and human solutions for purpose-driven change. All students will have the opportunity to develop interactive computing skills as well as product design, modeling and prototyping skills.

8 units of coursework from within the following Academy elective areas:

Interactive Technologies and Physical Computing

Through the Business core, students will build skills in business fundamentals through finance, management, economics, accounting, data analytics and statistics, and entrepreneurship.

Applied Business Statistics or Statistics and Data science for Business 

Operations Management or Advanced Operations Management and Analytics

Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship or The Management of New Enterprises

Industry Practicum I: Designing and Implementing Real-World Solutions

USC General Education Requirements (28-32 Units)

In addition to the core curriculums and Integrative Business courses, students mus complete USC’s General Education course which provide a comprehensive introduction to the breadth of knowledge required to be a well-educated person in the 21st century. Several courses required for the Business of Innovation Bachelor of Science degree may also be counted toward General Education Core Literacies and Global Perspective categories.
