Ariel Han is a Postdoctoral Scholar of Technology, Innovation, and Learning at the University of Southern California USC at the Iovine and Young Academy IYA.

Ariel received her PhD from the University of California, Irvine informatics department, where she worked at the Connected Learning Lab. Ariel received a master’s in Entertainment Technology Center from Carnegie Mellon University and bachelor’s degrees in Information science, Industrial design, and Fine arts from Seoul National University. 

Ariel is an interdisciplinary researcher at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Learning Sciences, and Educational Technology. Her work explores key questions about how to improve educational experiences for students and educators through innovative design and technology. Her research focuses on enhancing learning and 4Cs (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration) among students through facilitating deeper engagement and motivation across literacy development and STEM learning.

Ariel collaborates closely with students, families, educators, and community organizations to create cutting-edge educational technology and learning experiences that are informed by and reflective of educational stakeholders’ values, practices, and culture. Ariel has published in prestigious HCI conferences such as CHI, IDC, and learning science conference in ISLS, and CLS as well as journals in IJCCI, EIT, and I&LS. Ariel was awarded the VITAL challenge prize grants funded by the NSF in 2023.
