Michael Crowley is the director of Online Programs and a professor of teaching (technology) at the USC Iovine and Young Academy. He oversees operations of the online Master of Science of Integrated Design, Business and Technology program. This program offers an innovative curriculum that integrates design, technology and entrepreneurship, in collaboration with industry partners and gifted faculty. He teaches multiple classes in the graduate program, as well as an undergraduate Academy course that focuses on materials in design.
Crowley has worked for 20 years in the industry as a programmer, manager and project manager at Northrup Grumman. He came to the University of Southern California in 1999 as a full-time lecturer with the department of Computer Science at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. Thereafter, Crowley shifted emphasis to become the director of Information Technology Program (ITP), a cutting-edge, hands-on program that offers courses in web development, new media, 3D animation, security, programming, video game design and programming, and other innovative topics in information technology. During Crowley’s tenure, the program expanded access to information technology courses to all USC students and was a leader in curriculum innovation and integrating emerging instructional technologies in the classroom.
Crowley received his PhD in Computer Science from USC in 1997 and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
