Alexis Ohanian, Founder of Seven Seven Six and Co-Founder and Former Executive Chairman of Reddit, will deliver the keynote address at USC Iovine and Young Academy’s commencement ceremony on May 10, 2024. 

Tech founder and venture capitalist Alexis Ohanian is the co-founder of Reddit, one of the largest websites in the U.S. In 2020, he founded Seven Seven Six, a venture capital firm with over $971M assets under management. An outspoken supporter of open internet, STEM education, and paid family leave, Ohanian has lobbied on capitol hill advocating for federal paternity leave legislation. He is also the author of the bestselling book, Without Their Permission. 

“Alexis Ohanian personifies the cross-cutting innovation and purpose-driven practices of the Academy,” said Thanassis Rikakis, dean of USC Iovine and Young Academy. “We are thrilled to welcome an imaginative leader who will inspire our students as they set their post-collegiate journeys in motion.” 

Ohanian developed the Y Combinator-backed Reddit out of college, selling it to Conde Nast in 2006. Today it is valued at over $10B. After leaving Reddit in 2016 he co-founded the capital firm Initialized Capital, building it to $100B in market value through early investments in companies like Coinbase, Opendoor, Instacart, Patreon, and Ro. He went on to form venture capital firm Seven Seven Six.

Seven Seven Six has been at the forefront of emerging technologies and trends, leading competitive investments in companies across sectors including software, crypto, healthtech, food tech, climate tech, and space tech. In 2022 Ohanian launched the 776 Foundation to support marginalized individuals and announced a $20M commitment to climate action through his new 776 Fellowship Program. 

In addition to launching the Business Dad podcast, Ohanian is the principal owner of the LA-based professional women's soccer team, Angel City Football Club. 

Ohanian was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and grew up in the Baltimore suburbs. He has a B.A. in History and a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
