Philip Birnbaum More

Entrepreneurship; Professor Emeritus of Management and Organization (USC Marshall School of Business)

Philip More is a professor of entrepreneurship at the USC Iovine and Young Academy. Prior to his current role, he served for 28 years as a tenured professor at the USC Marshall School of Business.

More has taught a variety of courses throughout his academic career, including operations research, statistics, research methods, and business strategy. He has garnered teaching awards from Business Week, USC, and Indiana University.

Throughout his career, Phil has served as a consultant and executive educator for public entities and private firms in the aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, electronic, and pharmaceutical industries, as well as organizations such as the Thailand and Hong Kong Management Association. Prior to his academic career, Phil served in the U.S. Air Force as a communication-electronics officer where he received several decorations including the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Phil has both founded and acted as a director for several entrepreneurial ventures as well as served as an affiliated faculty at the USC Lloyd Grief Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. He also volunteers with organizations such as the USO, the L.A. Maritime Institute (leadership training for youth), and Ride-to-Fly (a therapeutic riding organization).

Phil’s research focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship, international comparative management, and business valuation.
